Paths to our destination

Paths to our destination - when a path is repetitive, do you find yourself optimizing the route to get to your work, abode or any other regular location?  I have specific lane patterns at different portions of 93N heading into Boston from the south.  (never, ever, the left lane).  I have specific lane patterns heading West on Route 128 to get to Concord.  (don't forget to get over to the right but not too far over before Route 24S). And now, walking to work in NYC, I have determined I have two efficient paths.  One takes me through a park but no good coffee.  The other is not as pleasant but has good coffee.  What does the economic model look like here?
